End User: Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)

The Malaysian Government has launched a programme to boost the renewable energy production and has set out an ambition to source 20% renewable energy by 2025. Scatec and partners are currently realising 240 MW across four projects in the country, supplying solar power to Tenaga Nasional Berhad, the country’s largest electricity utility.

• Gurun PV Solar Plant – Kedah – 50MW – 16 no. inverters
• Jasin PV Solar Plant – Melaka – 65MW – 16 no. inverters
• Merchang PV Solar Plant – Terengganu – 50MW – 16 no. inverters
• Redsol PV Solar Plant – Perak – 47MW – 16 no. inverters

Sepang solar plant is a 50MW large-scale solar plant owned and operated by TNB Renewables Sdn. Bhd. (TRe), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Malaysia’s national electricity utility company. It’s 238,140 solar panels generated more than 110,000MWh of energy in its first year of operation in 2019, and maintaining a near-perfect plant availability of 99%.
